Biography
Dr Candice Rey, 5 published articles, is actually research engineer in the laboratory LGP2, Grenoble, France, in the framework of an Industrial Chair, called Cellulose Valley, as co-holder with Pr Julien Bras and Dr Jérémie Viguié (LGP2 laboratory, Grenoble, France).
With a university degree in mechanical and process engineering, she gained familiarity with cellulose through a thesis examining the phenomena involved in the membrane filtration process of a suspension of cellulose nanocrystals. She has published three articles, specifically on the organization of cellulose nanocrystals and the formation of a concentrated layer on the membrane surface during the filtration process. After a one-year postdoctoral fellowship focused on the creation of microcapsules stabilized by cellulose nanocrystals, she transitioned to the private sector, serving as a laboratory manager for an industrial filtration company for three years. She joined the Cellulose Valley Chair in 2023 as a research engineer and is in charge of various research projects, including proof-of-concept projects of sustainable packaging in collaboration with the chair’s industrial partners. Her research focuses on the development of bio-based, recyclable packaging with high barrier properties, with a focus on process enginnering and end-of-life. In 2024, she co-authored a literature review on innovative processes for manufacturing bio-based 3D packaging.
In 2026, she became co-holder of the Cellulose Valley with Pr Julien Bras and Dr Jérémie Viguié, to form a team of 3 researchers leading this 5 years project, with the sponsorship of 9 companies involved in the project.
